Admitting Representative – Walk-In Center

Responsible for Registering Walk-In Center patients.  Will verify all demographic information as well as obtaining insurance information and verifying insurances via various websites; Responsible for opening, closing and balancing of the cash drawer and for the collection of co-payments.  Must be able to work efficiently and independently in a fast paced environment.  Requirements:  Must have excellent interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented and an independent worker, able to multi-task and have computer and internet usage skills.   Insurance experience is required.  Meditech experience and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.

24 hrs./wk. on days.  Includes every other Saturday & Sunday with rotational holidays. 

24 hrs./wk. Monday - Friday hours 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM including every other weekend 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (in the Hospital ER.)

 

CT Scan Technologist

 Will perform duties in the CT Dept. including scanning and procedures while providing optimal patient care. Ability to independently operate all CT equipment with adherence to policy and procedural protocols.  Qualifications:  Completion of an accredited Radiology Technology program with advanced training in Computed Axial Tomography preferred; current ARRT and CT State License  or eligible; CT Certified or eligible and CPR Certification.

24 hrs./wk. Monday and Thursday 3:30 PM - 12 AM; every other Saturday and Sunday 3:30 PM - 12 AM.

Case Manager

20 hrs./wk. on the day shift, includes every other weekend. Case Management/Utilization Review.  Must have 3-5 years Case Management experience. Licensed RN with BSN with acute Hospital experience in Case Management required.  Knowledge of Milliman Care Guidelines preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; computer experience required.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Performs various duties assisting in the treatment and nursing care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient based on a fundamental knowledge and utilization of the nursing process and in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.  Qualifications:  Must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program; State of Connecticut Certification is required. Prior acute care experience or long term experience 2 years or greater is strongly preferred. Skills:  BLS; basic computer skills including the ability to enter information pertaining to patient care per hospital policy.  Familiarity in working in Windows environment; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated working knowledge of a computerized medical information management system; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image; good written and verbal communication skills required.

Certified Surgical Technician - OR

The Surgical Technologist is an individual with specialized education who functions as a member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person.  He / she handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.  Will have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.  Will have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.  Surgical Technologists work under medical supervision to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.  QualificationsMust be a Certified Surgical Technologist, a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program; certification required; experience required; current  BLS certification required.

Minimum 2 year's progressive coding or coding review experience in inpatient coding with claims processing and/or data management responsibilities.  Strong ICD-10 and PCS coding skills and understanding of coding ethics and compliance.  Strong computer PC/skills.

Coder (Outpatient)

Responsible for identifying principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures on all Outpatient discharges, assigning appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to each, and for verifying and maintaining the accuracy of the abstracted clinical and financial data. This position is responsible for correct and compliant coding and abstracting for outpatient records in an acute care Hospital environment.  Requirements:  CPC/CCS, including ICD-10 certification required.  Extensive knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 CM, modifiers and E&M coding.  Knowledge of federal, state and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to documentation, coding, charging and billing required.  At least 2-3 years of hospital outpatient coding experience preferably with a concentration in Ambulatory Surgeries.  Knowledge of 3M and Meditech applications preferred.  Comprehensive and working knowledge of DRG and APC classification systems.

Director Case Management

Full time day position.  Collaborates with the interdisciplinary health care team in the care, treatment, and service provided to a patient in a planned manner that is consistent with the scope of care, treatment and services offered by Milford Hospital.  As a working clinical director, activies include identifying patient specific criteria for acceptance for care, treatment and services; and identifying the need for transer or discharge of a patient to another level of care, treatment and services based on the patient's assessed needs and Milford Hospital's capabilities.  The Director is expected to be intimately involved in clinical decisions to admit patients, as well as supervise the disposition of inpatients, and be responsible for the prevention and appeal of denials.  Education:  Graduate of a state accredited School of Nursing with a valid Connecticut Registerd Nurse License.  A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related degree with applicable experience may be substituted for the BSN requirement.  A Master's Degree is preferred.  Experience:  Minimum of 5 years professional experience that encompasses supervision and case management, utilization review, and/or discharge planning in a healthcare facility is required.  Experience in case management or utilization review in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.

Director - Diagnostic Imaging

Full time position.  Plans, directs and monitors operations, functions and resources of the Diagnostic Imaging Dept. at Milford Hospital.  This includes, but is not limited to, X-ray/Diagnostics, CT Scan, Interventional Radiology, Mammography, MRI, Echocardiography, Ultrasound, PET, Bone Density and Radiology Records.  Is responsible for day to day operations and strategic planning of the Department.  Also responsible for regulatory compliance.  requires a Bachelor of Science in Radiology, Clinical experience and at least 5 years of Management experience.  Advanced Certification in an advanced modality and Radioligy Technology Licensure in Connecticut.

Emergency Room Technician

Will demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care to the appropriate age of the patient.  Facilitates timely, individualized care of assigned patient under the direction of the RN.  Works collaboratively with RN/MD staff in order to meet individualized needs of the patient.  Provides patient safety in a manner that prevents injury. Perform expected tasks routinely and proactively.  Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Qualifications:  EMT with State of CT Certification required; or must be a graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program with a State of CT Certificate required; or nursing student in an RN program through first semester of year 1 with related experience.  Current BLS Certification;  knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity working in a Windows environment.  Must have good written and verbal communication skills.  Experience preferred.

General Maintenance Worker

40 hrs./wk.  7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with rotating weekends and holidays.  (Occasional shift work to include 2nd and 3rd as per Dept. needs).  Is responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, renovating, painting and construction at main Hospital and at associate hospital owned buildings.  Performs small general repairs and assist in repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems under supervision of related tradesman's; first responser to daily calls and requests; responsible for general building and off site facilities maintenance as work demand requires.  Minimum requirements:  High School graduate; Technical School preferred; previous experience with basic knowlege or ability to learn of federal, state and local codes and ordinances related to facilities; basic ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals, engineering drawings and sequences of operations; understanding and willingness to learn of Building Automation Systems, Fire Protection System, HVAC Systems and Building Maintenance;  ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures; analytical ability for problem solving and to communicate effectively with others in writing and verbally; ability to work indpendently and with other tradesmen in multidisciplinary departments; requires ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as required.  Provides support in snow removal on hospital grounds and off-site areas as required and other support as work load requires.

HEALTH INFORMATION AUDIT COORDINATOR

40 hrs /wk., days with weekend rotation. Participates in a leading role within the Department's Release of Information, (ROI) workflows, including reviewing authorizations, entering releases into the tracking system and processing ROI requests.  Performs analyst functions to ensure the timely processing, tracking, updating and follow-up towards all third party payer audits, including but not limited to RAC audits, HEDIS audits, and risk audit studies. Performs in a primary role, all functions required to administer and maintain the Hospital's Patient Health Portal.  Performs various HIM responsibities to meet the needs of the Dept. Qualifications:  High School diploma or equivalent with previous clerical experience in an HIM department or comparable, required.  Must possess and demonstrate strong customer service apitutde with prior end-user training and helpdesk experience preferred. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office products.  Must demonstrate through prior experience apitutde for technology and software use; prior system super user experience preferred. Must possess strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills.

HISTOLOGIST

40 hrs./wk. on the day shift 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.  Performs listed tasks in Histology Section, reporting to the Histology Section Chief and the Chief Pathologist.  Assists pathologist in conducting gross examination of surgical pathology specimens. Prepares tissue specimens for processing and embedding. Using microtome, cuts embedded tissue and mounts on slides.  Stains mounted tissue for viewing under microscope.  Performs special stains and other procedures as directed by the pathologists.  Assists pathologist in preparing and staining frozen sections.  Utilizes the Meditech Pathology Module to accomplish these tasks.  Maintaina all Histology equipment and instrumentation.  Assists the Section Chief in maintaining surgical pathology quality assurance and quality control programs on the Meditech system as required by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).  Requirements: Knowledge of Histology techniques and procedures with a minimum of 1 year experience in a CAP accredited laboratory.  Bachelor's degree in a health related field; Histologist (HT) Certification by ASCP.  Demonstrated ability to generate representative stained tissue sections that satisfy all pathologist's requirements for generation of final diagnosis.  Sufficient computer skills to utilize all feature in the Meditech Pathology Module.

Medical Lab Tech / Medical Technologist

Will perform various technical duties in the Laboratory.  Operates both automated and manual testing instrumentation.  Evaluates quality control and verifies all patient results prior to release.  Contacts physicians to report critical results in accordance with laboratory policy; performs various computer operations in Meditech computer system, including patient registration / order entry, automated and manual result entry, quality control entry and patient result reporting.  In addition collects blood specimens in all areas of the hospital and Milford Medical Laboratory if required.  Requirements:  2 yr. or 4 yr. degree in medical technology or biology; clinical laboratory experience required.  Demonstrated technical proficiency in the Microbiology section of the Lab; experience with automated and manual instrumentation; experience and knowledge relating to collection of blood specimens from patients of all ages; keyboarding skills relating to Meditech computer system; unless indicated all responsibilities are essential functions of the position.

16 hrs. /wk. on the 2nd shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM or 3 PM - 11:30 PM) including rotating weekends and holidays.

MRI TECHNOLOGIST

Performs all MRI Imaging exams and procedures in a hospital environment.  Ability to independently operate MRI scanner in a safe and effective manner while providing optimal patient care.  Prefer a minimum of 6 months MRI experience; successful completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; minimum of 2 years diagnostic radiology experience, preferably in a hospital setting; current ARRT and State License; MRI Registry (required within 18 months of hire or 18 months of initial training date); BLS certification.

NURSING SUPERVISOR

Per Diem positions (#307PD-17; 1112-PD-17) are available to cover hours as needed within the Nursing Administration Dept. No guarantee of hours/no benefits with these positions. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the nursing care provided to patients, allocates and redistributes human and physical resources, assures patient safety, acts as resource person to staff, resolves problems for all hospital departments. Assures adequate staffing levels and mix for each nursing unit.  Qualifications: CT RN License.  BLS, ACLS required;  BSN or BS required; 5 years professional experience in acute care required.  1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred. 

OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT

Under the direction of the RN, assists the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of the environment, stocking rooms, picking cases, transportation of patients, supplies/equipment, specimens and blood products to, from and within the surgical unit. Must be a High School graduate; preferable a graduate of an Operating Room Assistant program, Surgical Technician program, or a C.N.A. Must be knowledgeable regarding basic medical terminology, be able to identify many pieces of equipment used in the OR, be able to differentiate sterile from unsterile. Must successfully complete an orientation program in the Perioperative Services Dept. Must be able to take call independently on weekend; BLS with previous OR exp. preferred.

Pharmacist

No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position. The Pharmacist will interpret physician prescriptions and medication orders.  Acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing and ancillary department personnel.  Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the related duties.  Requirements:  Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent;  graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy;  current Pharmacist certification or licensure in the state of CT;  Meditech experience preferred.

 

Pharmacy Technician

Per diem position to cover hours as needed within the Dept. No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position. Will assist the Pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use; mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow Hood; Omnicell; type's labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties.  Requirements:  High School Graduate or equivalent; One-year related pharmacy experience and/or training or graduate of a certified training program/healthcare careers college.  Education in all age groups obtained with in school education, experience or subsequent training.  Appropriate certificates or licenses is required for the position; IV admixture / clean room experience preferred.

 

 

Phlebotomist

Collects blood specimens at the Hospital, Milford Medical Lab, Patient Service Center’s (Out labs), Physician Office Collection Stations and Nursing Homes. Delivers specimens to the Laboratory.  Travels to nursing homes and remote collection stations as required. Registers patient in Meditech if required. Order-enters all requested patient testing. Receives all collected specimens into Meditech. Generates and processes Meditech Collection Batches at the appointed. Collects STAT’s; using the Meditech generated specimen labels.  Processes all specimens and requisitions, insuring that the documentation and the specimens are distributed as required.   Answers general Laboratory telephones and performs other clerical duties as required. Phlebotomy experience is required; valid CT driver's license with good driving history required.  

24 hrs./wk. with a floating scheduled - will cover all shifts as needed.

Physician Assistant / APRN - Surgical

Primarily to provide first assist on a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular.  Also will have patient rounding and ED coverage responsibilities and call rotation.  A Connecticut PA or APRN and at least 1 year of surgical experience are required.  Experience in internal medicine is a plus.

Radiology Aide

20 hrs./wk. Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.   Will transport patients  to the Diagnostic Imaging Department from all areas of the hospital. Will assist technologist in providing optimal patient care.  Will transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher and transfer patients from beds, chairs and imaging tables.  Training and knowledge of Universal Precautions; understanding and acceptance of possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids; knowledge and safety standards regarding oxygen equipment, I-med, monitors  and catheters;  ability to move / lift a minimum weight of 100 lbs on a routine basis; ensures comfort, dignity and confidentiality of patients and ability appropriately respond to the patient needs during transport. High School Diploma or equivalent; Minimum of 1 year patient care and/or hospital experience preferred; CPR Certification preferred.

 

Radiologic Technologist / Clinical Assistant- Walk-In Center

Radiologic Technologist

PA / APRN - SURGICAL

Full time, primarily working with surgical patients.  The successful candidates will be first assist on a variety of surgical cases, including general surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular;  will have patient rounding and E.D. coverage responsibility as well as call rotation.  Must be a licensed P.A. or APRN in Connecticut and have at least one year of surgical experience; experience in internal medicine is a plus.

SWITCHBOARD OPERATOR

Prior office/telephone experience with previous switchboard experience a plus. Excellent customer service and telephone protocol.

Performs a variety of non-invasive technical procedures in cardiac graphics utilizing high frequency sound waves to study movement and size of the various cardiac structures for the diagnosis of heart disorders. Experience/Education: Must be a High School Grad or equivalent; work requires sufficient education/training to acquire American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) (RDCS); Registry eligible; one year completed formal ultraound training; CPR certified. Skills: EEG/EKG Recording; Echocardiography, TEE, Stress Echocardiography, B-Mode and Doppler.

Wound Care Center - RN / Case Manager

Per Diem positon to cover hours as needed within the Dept.  No guarantee of hours/no benefits with this position. Is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities of the Wound Care Center.  Activities include but are not limiied to, utilization of skills in organization planning, implementing, evluating and providing care as it relates to the specific needs of the patient and affiliate hospital policies and procedures.   The Nurse complies with hospital and nursing standards in the performance of job duties and responsibilities.  The Nurse will support the goals and objectives of the center and of the hospital partner. Qualifications:  CT Registered Nurse License; medical, surgical, home health or Wound Care experience preferred.  Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills with excellent written and verbal communication skill needed.
