Milford Hospital to Honor Junior Volunteers and Award Scholarships at Dinner Ceremony

On Thursday,  August 12th,   Milford Hospital will be "Celebrating the Service" of it's Junior Volunteers.  The dinner and awards ceremony will applaud the exemplary efforts of the teenaged volunteers who collectively contributed over 6,000 hours of service to the hospital during the last year.  More than 80 Junior Volunteers currently provide service in all areas of the hospital.   Combined with their adult counterparts, a grand total of more than 400 volunteers serve the hospital, tallying over 40,000 hours of service.   

35 students will be recognized for their exemplary service and achievements in the Junior Volunteer Program, including awards for hours of service and attendance.  In addition, seven graduating seniors will receive scholarships awarded by the Milford Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteer Services Department.   The recipients were chosen based on an extensive application and interview process, as well as, their record of service to the hospital.  

The Milford Hospital Junior Volunteer Program is open to boys and girls ages 15 to 18 years old.  The hospital requires a minimum commitment of 50 hours of service.   Recruitment of new Junior Volunteers typically takes place twice per year.   Once accepted into the program, the teenagers are oriented and trained prior to being placed in all departments of the hospital.  To be placed on our waiting list or for more information call Milford Hospital Volunteer Services at 203-876-4062.
